AE Live, Quidich partner on augmented reality drone feeds

Partnership will enable broadcasters to "enhance their production values" with the use of drone shots of stadiums combined with AR content

Sports broadcast graphics company AE Live is partnering with aerial filming company Quidich to offer augmented reality drone feeds for live event broadcasts.

Quidich become the first company in the world to deliver broadcast grade augmented reality (AR) content on live drone feeds, through their proprietary tracking engine – Spatio.

The engine is designed to deliver AR graphics, using expansive drone shots. Quidich already works with some of the world’s largest broadcasters and federations including BCCI, Star Sports and ICC.

According to the two companies, the partnership will enable broadcasters to enhance their production values with the use of drone shots of stadiums combined with AR content.

Alastair Robbins, AE’s commercial director said “We have worked alongside Quidich at several sporting events, such as the 2020 Indian Premier League, and we have been impressed with their ability to create incredible aerial shots and incorporate data and graphics.

“Our partnership brings together AE’s experience in project management and implementing solutions at the world’s highest profile sporting events, with Quidich’s expertise in developing and operating the best in drone and camera technology.”
