What impact have the current global uncertainties had on the company’s R&D and product
development in recent months?
There has been little to no impact. Our product planning and R&D strategy are guided by long-term industry trends and strategic priorities, which have remained stable despite recent global uncertainties.
What do you foresee as the biggest challenges in R&D and product development/deployment in the coming years?
One of the biggest challenges will be bridging the gap between legacy broadcast workflows and modern IT-based infrastructures. As technology cycles accelerate, the industry will need to ensure interoperability and performance while adopting more scalable, flexible, and software-driven solutions.
Where do you see the most opportune areas for innovation in your area of the market, and what tech/solutions will drive that development?
There’s still significant opportunity in advancing the shift from proprietary, legacy broadcast formats and control protocols toward IP-based standards and IT-centric monitoring tools. Leveraging modern IT and software development practices will be key. As R&D investments in legacy systems decline, we expect this transition to accelerate industry-wide over the next few years.
What are you working on currently that excites you as a product team, and what can we
expect to see at IBC2025?
We’re particularly excited about the EBU’s Media eXchange Layer (MXL) initiative. The base concept of processes working on a shared memory is something we believe in and have already integrated into our products for a few years now. If other vendors align around this concept through the MXL initiative, it would benefit the industry as a whole. Stay tuned for more news about our expanded support at IBC.
