Grass Valley helps Norway’s TV 2 move to open standards-based IP workflows

Broadcaster has selected Kaleido-IP video multiviewer as it moves from its current SMPTE ST2022-6 to SMPTE ST2110 IP capabilities

As part of its move to an IP-centric workflow, Norwegian broadcaster TV 2 is employing Grass Valley’s Kaleido-IP video multiviewer.

Kaleido-IP is helping TV 2 with an easy transition from its current SMPTE ST2022-6 to SMPTE ST2110 IP capabilities. The new deployment will give the broadcaster access to high density inputs, simultaneous video and audio programme decodes and ultra-low latency processing.

The solution supports a wide range of codecs, as well as uncompressed video and audio for monitoring any IP source.

“IP solutions that enable effortless remote productions are essential to our company and that’s why we’ve relied on Grass Valley’s multiviewers for years. The Kaleido-IP fits seamlessly into our SMPTE ST2110-based infrastructure and can handle a wide variety of content requirements from 4K UHD and HD to SD,” said Svein Henning Skaga, solutions architect at TV 2 Norway.

“We rely on flexible workflows to enable easy customisation for each production type, including news, sports and other master control room operations, and the Kaleido IP is the perfect solution for this.”

TV 2’s new IP workflows are expected to go live by Q4 2021.
