Uncompressed UHD player

A server providing either uncompressed or compressed 4K/UHD video in real time over various interfaces from HDMI1.4/2.0 to 3G/SDI is on show in the IBC Future Zone.

The player is aimed at professionals who want to edit 4K audio/visual content before compression. It can make a real-time playback of uncompressed UHD/4K up to 60fps and a native playback of ProRes 4:2:2 and DPX formats. A comparison of videos can be monitored on a single 4K screen.

The basic components of the system are a server, combining ‘best-in-class IT’, and a user-friendly interface.IRT b-com explained that it is working on an evolution of the player that can handle 4K HDR running at 120fps with 64 audio channels, subject to hardware capability and availability.

Based in Rennes, the institute is supported by the French government’s Investissements d’Avenir (Investing in the Future) programme and by local authorities in Brittany, Rennes, Lannion-Trégor and Brest.
