IBC is a vital meeting place for everyone involved in digital cinema.The only way you can get a real feel for the latest technology is to see it in action, which is why each year IBC creates The Big Screen. The RAI Centre has its own excellent Auditorium which seats up to 1200 people. IBC takes this facility and puts in state of the art projection and sound equipment to create the best 3D-capable digital cinema experience you are likely to find.
Friday and Saturday, the Big Screen is used for exhibitors who want to show their latest developments and showreels. These presentations are free to all visitors, and include sessions with Arri, Assimilate, Christie and P+S Technik.
To appreciate the finest in creative technology, IBC offers 3D screenings of two movies. Saturday night it is Toy Story 3, courtesy of Buena Vista International produced by The Walt Disney Company’s Pixar Animation Studios; and on Monday it is the new, extended version of Avatar (Special Edition), courtesy of 20th Century Fox International and by kind permission of Lightstorm Entertainment.
Movie screenings are free to all, but space is limited and demand for these two wonderful movies will be high. Be there well before screen time of 18:30 to be sure of a seat.
Also free to all visitors is the IBC Awards Ceremony, a fast-paced show which reveals who has won this year’s awards for the most important initiatives in our industry. There are always surprises in the show too – last year it was the first chance most of us had to see the extended 16 minute trailer of Avatar – and this year will be no exception. The IBC Awards Ceremony starts at 18:30 on Sunday evening, but make sure you get there early as spaces fill up fast.
Finally, the IBC Conference uses the Big Screen to demonstrate, d-cinema and stereoscopic 3D. The 3D day on Monday is located here, of course, as are several other sessions.
These require a conference pass or single session ticket which can still be booked online or at the Conference reception near the Forum. For all visitors, though, there are plenty of chances to see what the latest in high power, high resolution projection and surround sound can do, on the IBC Big Screen.
