Extender offers fibre flexibility

A 6G-SDI extender for sending 4K resolution SDI camera feeds up to a distance of 985ft over fibre is on show at IBC.

The 6G-SDI Extender over Fiber Optic device from MuxLab can make it possible to use a single fibre optic cable to transport four HD-SDI streams at 1080i, two 3G-SDI streams at 1080p, or one 6G-SDI stream at 4K.

Using OM4 multimode fibre cabling, an extension of up to 400m is possible for 6G/3G/HD-SDI with that reach increased to 40km for 6G/3G/HD-SDI if using single mode fibre.

A Cat5e/6 model is also available supporting an extension up to 150m for 6G/3G/HD-SDI.

MuxLab suggests that the device is appropriate for mobile broadcasting, studio-to-studio production, post production and live events.

Daniel Assaraf, president, MuxLab, said: “MuxLab’s aim is to bring high-quality connectivity solutions to the market that provide alternative extension methods. We take pride in what we do, and it is reflected in our ingenuity and in the quality of our workmanship.”
The 6G-SDI Extender supports SDI configurations up to 4K. Automatic SDI link recognition and configuration and RS232 pass-through are also included.
