Broadpeak to introduce nanoCDN

Multicast ABR technology is now being adopted by the industry, and Broadpeak will showcase its benefits at IBC2017. With video consumption on every device now ubiquitous, the company said it is addressing the fact that pay-TV operators and content providers are finding it increasingly hard to differentiate themselves and improve the user experience delivered over managed networks and OTT.

Claimed to be the first working ABR multicast solution delivered by a technology provider, Broadpeak said its nanoCDN multicast ABR solution has been deployed successfully by leading global operators for live multiscreen service delivery since 2012.

According to the company, nanoCDN multicast ABR makes live HTTP video delivery to any device scalable by turning millions of broadband gateways, cable modems, WiFi routers and STBs into active components of an operator’s content delivery infrastructure.

By leveraging home networks, Broadpeak claimed operators can cost-effectively manage the consumption peaks of live multiscreen services for millions of simultaneous viewers using only a few megabits per second from their network.

Several new use cases for nanoCDN will be shown at IBC, including zero latency for live video streaming as well as live HTTP TV service delivery via satellite.
