A discreet word in your ear

At IBC2016 Phonak is showcasing the Roger Earpiece, a new discreet in-ear receiver. The Roger Earpiece is shaped to sit comfortably inside the ear canal, ensuring virtual invisibility from the cameras, said the company. Thanks to a fully integrated receiver and battery, there is no need for cables or belt packs.

With an audio frequency bandwidth of 100Hz-7kHz and sound pressure level output of up to 100dB, the Roger Earpiece brings a new level of clarity to in-ear audio monitors, said Phonak.

It uses Phonak’s proprietary technology in the licence-free 2.4GHz band, with adaptive frequency hopping to avoid interference.

Along with its companion products to Roger Earpiece, the stationary Roger Base Station and the mobile Roger Touchscreen Mic, Phonak said the aim was to offer studio professionals a complete plug-and-play platform, with one-press connection and flexibility to configure transmissions from single or multiple sources as required.
