Warner Bros Discovery ‘decides against split’

The report suggests WBD may look to sell off smaller assets, such as Polish broadcaster TVN

Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) has reportedly decided against splitting its streaming and studio business from its linear TV channels.

According to the FT, CEO David Zaslav and CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels have evaluated “all options” to arrest the decline in the company’s stock price. They apparently decided that a break-up would be the “nuclear option”.

The report adds that Zaslav and Widedenfels have concluded that while the idea “looked compelling on paper” it would “create very significant operational challenges”.

Among those challenges would be deciding how to split the company’s sports rights deals between linear TV and streaming.

The report suggests WBD may look to sell off smaller assets, such as Polish broadcaster TVN.
