UKTV to open technology innovation hub in Leeds

New office will initially house a team of up to 10 specialists, tasked with enhancing the broadcaster’s content distribution capabilities

UKTV has announced plans to open a new technology innovation hub in Leeds.

It marks the second time a major UK broadcaster has revealed plans to open offices in the city, following last week’s announcement that Leeds will be the location of Channel 4’s new HQ.

UKTV’s office will initially house a team of up to 10 specialists, tasked with enhancing the broadcaster’s content distribution capabilities.

The new team will bolster UKTV’s technology and operations department said the broadcaster, and will focus on embracing new technologies, as well as further exploring data analytics and the cloud.

Chief technology and operations officer, Sinead Greenaway, said, “Over the past three years we’ve completely redesigned our technology infrastructure to ensure we can react quickly to the evolving broadcast landscape and increased complexity of our distribution platforms.

“Opening a regional technology innovation hub marks the next step in UKTV’s long-term growth strategy, enabling us to harness the skills and expertise of talent outside of London and support the creative industries in the regions.”

The new office will open this month.
