Tom Toumazis, MBE, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for the second annual TVBEurope 2020 conference, which returns to BAFTA on 28 June.
The Tagsmart and TVbeat chairman, who is also the non-executive director of digital publishing business theLADbible, will be giving a talk on the future of broadcasting in the digital age.
“Tom’s vast experience in the media space gives him a unique understanding of the entire broadcasting spectrum,” explained James McKeown, content director at conference organiser NewBay. “I’m eager to learn his perspective of how this wonderful industry of ours may look in the future, and I’m personally delighted to have him aboard.”
Until November 2015, Toumazis was head of partnerships EMEA at Yahoo having held previous roles as chief commercial officer of Endemol; EVP and MD Disney ABC Television; and the UK managing director of Eurosport. Prior to this, he spent more than 11 years at ITV.
Toumazis joins a growing speaker list that now boasts the BBC, ITV, YouView, EBU, Ericsson, Ernst and Young, NEP Netherlands, and more. TVBEurope 2020 is a one-day strategy summit that brings together broadcasters, content owners, service providers and manufacturers with the common goal of identifying the business-critical decisions that companies will have to make to remain relevant and profitable in a fully IP-enabled future.
This year’s conference programme is the most forward looking TVBEurope agenda to date, addressing the future role of broadcasters in an IP-enabled world, the value and effectiveness of common standards across the convergent IP and UHD ecosystems, and the impact of market forces on long-term business strategy.
