RTL Nederland has appointed Lucien Brouwer to the new role of chief consumer officer.
Brouwer will oversee the broadcaster’s digital platforms including RTL XL, Videoland and NLziet.
Brouwer is currently director entertainment platforms at Liberty Global, the parent company of Ziggo. He was partly responsible for the growth of the Ziggo GO app. He has previously worked at KPN and UPC Netherlands.
CEO Sven Sauvé of RTL Nederland said that the company wants to expand its VoD services in the Dutch market. “Lucien has experience in quickly building consumer-oriented brands in a digital environment. We need this at the highest level within RTL to realise our ambitious goals. In addition to being a bridge builder, he is also someone who can optimally put together teams in this new customer-oriented world.”
Brouwer added: “RTL has a strong connection with society and the best local brands as a traditional Dutch player. That is an excellent starting point for transforming a media party that serves the masses to a media company that enters into a one-to-one relationship with the consumer.”
