McClelland joins the company following a career that includes leadership roles at Imagine, GatesAir, Harmonic and Comcast

Appear has announced the appointment of Andy McClelland as senior vice president and general manager for the UK and Ireland.

Taking charge of Appear’s commercial operations in the region, McClelland’s appointment aims to accelerate the company’s go-to-market strategies and improve customer engagement to meet growth in demand for hybrid cloud and software-defined workflows.

In a career that began in video engineering, McClelland has held leadership roles across a range of media tech companies including GatesAir, Harmonic and Imagine Communications, at which he gained extensive knowledge of hardware-centric and software-driven infrastructures, said the company. One of his key focuses at Appear will be to expand the adoption of the VX software platform throughout the region, enabling organisations to create scalable, low-latency production workflows with modular software components, said the company.

Commenting on his appointment, McClelland said, “I’ve known and competed against Appear for years and always admired the team’s ability to deliver. When the opportunity to join came up, I was genuinely flattered. What excites me most is how Appear has brilliantly timed its R&D, offering the right solution whether customers need flexible modular hardware, a hybrid setup, or a full software/cloud architecture.”

Additionally, he aims to develop Appear’s customer engagement initiatives such as its Customer Councils, which provide clients with the ability to feedback on product development and share knowledge around workflow innovation. “I’m a huge believer in customer councils. They build community, surface real-world needs, and help us innovate more smartly. Appear doesn’t just say it listens – it really does,” McClelland added.

Thomas Bostrøm Jørgensen, Appear’s CEO, said, “Andy’s appointment marks a significant milestone for Appear’s UK & Ireland operations and aligns with the company’s broader mission to deliver sustainable, high-performance solutions for the most demanding live production environments. Andy not only shares our passion for customer collaboration and technical innovation but also brings a global perspective that will further strengthen our ability to support broadcasters and operators navigating the shift to hybrid and software-defined infrastructures.
