Morwen Williams appointed chair of WBU-IMCG

Takes up the role from 1st July

Head of operations for BBC News Morwen Williams has been appointed the new committee chair for the World Broadcasting Unions’ International Media Connectivity Group.

Her appointment takes effect from 1st July. She replaces John Ball, VP of global distribution and technology at WarnerMedia.

“I’m hugely honoured to have been invited to do this and look forward to working to take the IMCG to even greater successes,” states Williams. “The challenges and opportunities around connectivity for broadcasters have never been more so than at present and it will be inspiring to work with so many great colleagues on these issues.”

“We are all thrilled to see Morwen in this leadership position. She has been a vital member of the WBU-IMCG since 2015 and has contributed deeply to our IMCG Forums, most recently taking on the hosting responsibilities of our upcoming Forum in November,” added Michael McEwen, head of the WBU Secretariat. “I very much look forward to her leadership.”

The WBU-IMCG works with broadcasters, satellite and fibre service providers and vendors in providing global solutions to common exchange of content and operational problems on any platform.
