The UK’s Film and TV Charity is launching a special initiative aimed at celebrating the talent behind the camera.
Behind The Scenes Week will run from Monday 28th November to Friday 2nd December and celebrates all of the people working behind the scenes in TV and film who “make such an invaluable contribution to the UK’s creative sector”.
The charity is calling on everyone across the industry, from heads of departments to new recruits, to take a moment to celebrate one another on social media. It wants people to tweet #TurnTheCameraAround or nominate their hidden heroes who contribute to the industry, whether working in production, post, distribution, projection or any other area.
Behind The Scenes Week is a moment for everyone in the industry, whatever their role may be, said the charity. More than 35 organisations have already signed up to support the initiative.
Alex Pumfrey, Film and TV Charity CEO, said: “With Behind The Scenes Week we want the industry to take a moment to look around, and to cheer and thank each other for the amazing contributions each and everyone makes to film, TV, and cinema! Every day the industry reaches out to us for support for their emotional, practical and financial needs, but we think it is important to ensure that we also take a moment to celebrate how incredible the industry is as well!
“This is a call to the industry to get involved. We want individuals and organisations to use the hashtags #BTSW, #BehindTheScenesWeek, #HiddenHero and #TurnTheCameraAround, and don’t forget to follow and tag @FilmTVCharity, so we can share all your amazing photos and videos!”
