Disney+ ‘to reach 75 million subscribers by 2024’

With a third of subscriptions based in the US

Disney+ is expected to reach 75 million subscribers by 2024 according to figures from Digital TV Research.

This falls in line with the company’s own plans, having estimated 60-90 million subscribers on the same timescale.

Launching in November, Disney’s SVoD platform is anticipated to see a third of subscriptions come from the US.

Digital TV Research principal analyst Simon Murray said: “The Disney brand is known and respected in every home across the world. Disney will deliver a reasonably priced, attractive platform that has plenty of appealing content.

“Similar to Netflix, Disney+ is not expected to launch as a standalone platform in China. Its impact is also expected to be limited in other large markets such as Russia and India.”
