Disney+ in advertising dispute with Amazon, Netflix

Disney reportedly banning Netflix advertising across its TV networks

Disney+ could be unavailable on Fire TV amid an ongoing advertising dispute with Amazon, as the streaming wars continue to intensify.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Amazon has demanded “a significant percentage” of ad space on Disney apps such as ABC, ESPN and the Disney Channel, which Disney may also pull from Fire TV.

The newspaper also claims that Disney is banning Netflix advertising across its TV networks, since Disney is not allowed to advertise on Netflix.

A Disney spokesperson told The Verge: “The direct-to-consumer business has evolved, with many more entrants looking to advertise in traditional television, and across our portfolio of networks.

“While the initial decision was strictly advertising based, we reevaluated our strategy to reflect the comprehensive business relationships we have with many of these companies, as direct-to-consumer is one element.”
