DAZN ‘in talks to acquire Eleven Sports’

Talks are said to be advanced but there's no guarantee the deal will happen

Sports streaming service DAZN is reportedly in talks to acquire rival Eleven Sports.

According to the FT, the talks are advanced but there’s no guarantee the deal will happen.

DAZN is looking to expand its content offerings and move into new markets. Acquiring Eleven would give it access to new territories, as well as the rights to Formula One in Poland, the UEFA Champions League and the next three seasons of the English Premier League in Portugal.

Eleven Sports reported revenues of more than $300 million in the year to the end of June 2021, said the newspaper.

Eleven Sports was founded by Italian businessman Andrea Radrizzani, who also owns Leeds United. In addition to the streaming business, the Eleven portfolio also includes documentary maker Neo Studios and digital marketing company Team Whistle.

DAZN had hoped to acquire BT Sport earlier this year before BT announced its new joint venture with Warner Bros Discovery.

According to the FT, both DAZN and Eleven Sports have declined to comment on the report.
