Central European broadcaster CME reviewing options

Group operates 30 television channels across five countries

Central European Media Enterprises, which runs TV companies in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Romania, the Slovak Republic and Slovenia, has announced it is looking at a sale or merger.

The group, which counts AT&T as its majority owner, operates 30 television channels across the five countries.

“(Strategic alternatives) may include, among other things, the sale of part or all of the company, a merger with another strategic partner, a recapitalisation, or continuing to execute on CME’s long-term business plan,” the company said in a statement.

John Billock, CME’s chairman, added: “After five years of unparalleled growth and impressive deleveraging, the company has never been in better shape. We strongly believe that now is the right time to conduct this strategic review.”
