Canal Plus is in talks to buy beIN Sports, according to reports in France.
According to Europe 1, Canal Plus is aiming to finalise a deal before summer, allowing the French broadcaster to increase its number of subscribers by 3.5 million.
The purchase of the Qatar-based pay-TV operator would also enable Canal Plus to expand its portfolio of sports rights in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
No further details have been disclosed.
