Brainstorm in the court at Roland Garros

IDS, a division of SMT, used Brainstorm Multimedia’s 3D realtime eStudio render engine to power its graphics for the Roland Garros Tennis Championship in Paris. The graphics systems powered by eStudio, the realtime 3D graphics engine, delivered on-air graphics for all in-game match score and statistical graphics used by France 2, France 3 and France 4 in their production of Roland Garros. Graphics were simultaneously produced on up to seven courts with each system producing both French and English graphics in realtime, which were also used by broadcasters worldwide. In 2011, for instance, coverage of Roland Garros was seen in 178 countries covered by 137 broadcasters. The graphics service was delivered by IDS on behalf of IBM, the Official IT Partner of Roland Garros. IDS, an IBM business partner, built the graphics package, configured the systems and supplied the staff to operate and manage the production. IDS has used Brainstorm’s eStudio engine for a wide range of sports productions including the Tennis Channel’s Virtual Studio for 2011 U.S. Open Championship, and the BBC’s 3-D stereo productions for Wimbledon last year, which was awarded the 2011 Outstanding Achievement in Stereo 3D Award at IBC 2011. For Roland Garros, IDS used Brainstorm eStudio V12 engine, which is able to fulfil almost any graphics needs of broadcasters of all sizes. This single engine can be used for realtime 3D graphics, data display, superimpositions, headers or full virtual studio production. www.brainstorm.es
