France’s AMP Visual TV selects Sony’s XVS-G1 switcher for fly-away units

Sony describes the XVS-G1 system as a "perfect fit" for the small to mid-size studio, outside broadcast vehicles, and fly-away production units

French production company AMP Visual TV has selected the XVS-G1 from Sony to power its offer of fly-away based production units around France.

Designed for live production needs, such as sports, news, events as well as entertainment programmes, Sony describes the XVS-G1 system as a “perfect fit” for the small to mid-size studio, outside broadcast vehicles, and fly-away production units.

The switcher works with both HD and UHD content, and includes a central processing unit (CPU), a graphics processing unit (GPU), and a field-programmable gate array (FPGA).

It includes FPGA hardware which enables real-time processing in high resolution 4K(UHD), wide colour gamut, as well as high-dynamic range (HDR) imaging with an ultra-low latency.

“We have been using Sony’s switchers as part of our operations for a long time, because of their reliability and scalability,” said Francois Valadoux, technical director at AMP Visual TV.

“When we wanted to upgrade our light operations to fit the increased demands for compact and remote productions, the new XVS-G1 seemed a natural choice, as it fit right into our existing fleet, as well as being a versatile and future proof system with its UHD capability.”
