Leeds to open six film and TV studios

Expected to more than double the amount of usable TV and film space in the city

Six state-of-the-art film and TV studios are being created in Leeds city centre, expected to be completed by 2020 to coincide with the arrival of around 200 Channel 4 employees.

Housed in the old Polestar Petty printworks on Whitehall Road in Holbeck, the studios will reportedly more than double the amount of usable TV and film space in the city.

Leeds City Council has agreed to loan the operator, Versa, £1.6 million to complete external acoustics work.

Councillor Judith Blake, leader of Leeds City Council, said: “It is fantastic news that we have made such progress over the last couple of months to now be in a position where we are able to hand over to national operator Versa to start bringing the physical side of the studio to life.”
