BBC takes half RTS Programme Awards nominations

Channel 4 picks up 17 nominations

The Royal Television Society (RTS) has announced the 2020 RTS Programme Awards nominees, with the BBC accounting for half of the overall nominations.

The Corporation’s nominations include music documentary Bros: After The Screaming Stops in the Arts category, as well as three nods for Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag, for Comedy Performance (Female), Scripted Comedy and Writer (Comedy).

Meanwhile Channel 4 picked up 17 nominations, including two for The Virtues (Niamh Algar and Stephen Graham in both acting categories), while Aisling Bea was nominated for the Breakthrough Award for her series This Way Up.

Sky secured eight nominations, including Sky Atlantic in the RTS Channel of the Year category, up against BBC Three and Channel 5. 

The Live Event category is between The BRIT Awards 2019 for ITV, The Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance for BBC One, and Stormzy at Glastonbury 2019 for BBC Two.
