AMC, Amazon strike output deal

Covers 28 territories worldwide

Amazon Prime Video and AMC Studios have signed a deal to give the OTT service first-run rights to in-house shows in 28 territories including Australia, Germany, Italy, India and Japan.

It means AMC’s shows will be on the Prime Video service ahead of any other streaming platform, pay TV service, or free TV.

The first title covered by the deal is The Terror (pictured), produced by Sir Ridley Scott, about an arctic expedition gone wrong.

“This is another step in our efforts to extend the selection of premium TV shows available to Prime Video members worldwide,” says Brad Beale, vice president, content acquisition, Amazon Prime Video.

Rick Olshansky, president of business operations, AMC Studios, said: “This agreement underscores the high global demand for AMC’s must-have content and franchises and enables us to bring our popular shows to a wide global audience.”
