London is the number one UK city for digital technology, research by London & Partners has found.
According to the agency: “The UK technology sector is speeding ahead of other areas of the country’s economy,” citing the Internet of Things (IoT), Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) as emerging technologies.
Using data from the UK Tech Innovation Index (measuring tech events, scientific publications and business startup rates), the report finds London leading the way for ‘tech hub cities’ by excelling in AI.
The research places Edinburgh and Manchester in the top three technology hubs, citing their IoT expertise.
“The UK’s digital economy has demonstrated unprecedented levels of talent, ambition, and investment, delivering an exceptional cohort of billion-dollar businesses,” adds London & Partners. “It’s no wonder that the UK is the leading European destination for Silicon Valley investors.”
