Up to 5,000 industry workers could be pushed into poverty, warns Film and TV Charity

Charity has launched a fundraising campaign to support film and TV workers who are already facing financial and mental health pressures

The UK’s Film and TV Charity is warning the cost of living crisis could push up to 5,000 industry workers into poverty this winter.

It has launched a fundraising campaign to support film and TV workers who are already facing financial and mental health pressures.

The charity said that over the last 12 months, thousands of industry workers have already accessed financial support, including new digital tools, enabling them to navigate some of the challenges they face.

It adds that many industry workers have also found a place to turn to through the charity’s Bullying Advice Service or help via its 24/7 Film and TV Support Line.

In order to keep these services going, and to ensure that people facing urgent need caused by rising costs don’t fall through the cracks, the charity is asking for individuals and businesses across the creative sector to donate if they possibly can.

During difficult times over the last few years, it has been this generosity that has kept many talented people in the industry and that has enabled us to continue providing services that so many rely upon every day. We fully understand that times are tough, that is why we’re asking those who can to make a donation and help us ensure we can reach those in need.

“Perhaps you’ve been supported by the charity in the past, or you would like to give back to the industry that you love – whatever the amount, all donations mean that we can continue making film, TV and cinema a better place to work for all.”
