ProSat FlyAway uplink “best of two worlds”

ProSat Solutions's new D100FA Diamond FlyAway manually operated antenna has all the typical features of a broadcast uplink with an electronic orientation assistant. It can cope with HD/SD MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 with bandwidths up to 18MHz in DVB-S/S2

ProSat Solutions’s new D100FA Diamond FlyAway manually operated antenna has all the typical features of a broadcast uplink with an electronic orientation assistant. It can cope with HD/SD MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 with bandwidths up to 18MHz in DVB-S/S2 modulation types, writes David Fox.

It is designed to withstand the harshest conditions, allowing operation in the field for several years. The system is claimed to combine the best of two worlds, by providing sophisticated aligning software and the reliability of a non-motorized system.

The four-piece segmented diamond-shaped carbon fibre antenna should be set up and aligned within less than five minutes, and the system’s control system uses GPS, inclinometer, electronic compass and DVB tuner card to guide the operator towards the satellite and to verify its identity. The software also provides a configuration tool, alarm indicators and control functionality.

The antenna has an effective aperture of 1.2m, two ports (optionally three), weighs 32kg including carrying case, and is available through Broadcast Solutions.
