‘Pop-up’ film and TV studio gets go-ahead

New studio in Hoddesdon is thought to already be in use

A temporary TV and film studio in Hoddesdon, Herts has been given the greenlight by the local council.

The studio received planning permission from Broxbourne Borough Council in February, and is already thought to be in use.

It is expected to operate for the next five years, based at the town’s Charlton Meads Industrial Estate.

According to local media, two former storage and distribution warehouse units had been unoccupied for almost three years before the initial plans were submitted, and will revert back to warehouses in 2026.

Silo 13 Productions submitted an application seeking  retrospective permission for four ancillary buildings as well as a new unit earlier this month. The initial plans the buildings will be used to build interior sets for TV and film productions, with filming also taking place on site.

The site is separate to a new £700 million TV and film facility, which is set to be built in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire.
