Communications Specialties (CSI) introduced new additions to its Copperlink signal distribution line of products at NAB 2012. The new Copperlink 2380-Series embedder/de-embedder, consisting of the 2380 embedder and 2381 de-embedder, allows engineers to embed up to four channels (two pairs) of analogue line level audio into a 3G/HD/SD-SDI video signal in accordance with SMPTE standards. This makes it ideal for a number of applications including broadcast and corporate studios, OB vans, rental and staging, stadiums, theaters, distance learning, and more. The Copperlink 2380 Embedder (pictured) gives operators the flexibility to embed each of the four channels of audio independently, strip previously serialised audio, or pass it through without modification, all on a pair-by-pair basis. CSI also enhanced its Fiberlink fibre optic product line at NAB. The new 3380-Series, consisting of the 3380 transmitter and 3381 receiver, transports 3G/HD/SD-SDI video and four line-level analogue audio signals found in professional video and broadcast environments, making it ideal for a number of locations and applications. The 3380 transmitter accepts as its input one SDI signal and up to four audio signals or ‘channels’. The 3380 converts the analogue audio into digital audio and embeds it into the SDI digital video signal stream in accordance with applicable SMPTE standards.
