Mank leads BAFTA Film Awards technical categories

Overall, Nomadland and Rocks lead the nominations with seven nods each

David Fincher’s film about screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz and his development of the screenplay for Citizen Kane leads the nominations in the technical categories at this year’s British Academy Film Awards.

Mank tops the list with four nominations, followed by Nomadland and News of the World which both  have three. The Father, The Sound of Metal, The Dig and Greyhound all picked up two nominations each.

The technical categories include Cinematography, Editing, Production Design, Costume Design, Make Up and Hair, Sound and Special Visual Effects.

Overall, Nomadland and Rocks lead the nominations with seven nods each.

In a first for BAFTA, four women have been nominated in the director category, and after all-white acting nominees last year, 15 of the 24 actors nominated are Black or Asian.

This year, the EE British Academy Film Awards will be announced across the weekend of 10th and 11th April. Two shows will be broadcast virtually from London’s Royal Albert Hall.

The first show, celebrating the craft of film, will be broadcast on Saturday 10th April on BBC Two, and the show on Sunday 11th April will be broadcast on BBC One.
