HPA plans UK retreat

The Hollywood Professional Association (HPA) has unveiled plans to bring the HPA Tech Retreat to the UK

The Hollywood Professional Association (HPA) has unveiled plans to bring the HPA Tech Retreat to the UK.

The retreat, which will be presented by HPA and its partner, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), will be held at Heythrop Park Resort in Oxfordshire from 13-14 July.

The HPA Tech Retreat UK is co-chaired by Jerry Pierce, HPA vice president, and Richard Welsh, former SMPTE governor for EMEA, Central and South America Regions.

Pierce said, “The Tech Retreat is unique, and the UK version will be uniquely British as well. We will take the essential ingredients that have made the HPA Tech Retreat such a powerful combination of intense knowledge transfer and dynamic personal interaction, adapted for the UK”.

The programme is currently in development, and will offer a look behind the scenes at a number of major film and television productions in the UK and Hollywood.

Panels will include broadcasters, technology thought-leaders and those at work on a variety of informative projects and processes.

Welsh said, “Those familiar with HPA Tech Retreat in the US will recognise its mainstays at Tech Retreat UK.

“The carefully curated main conference, including its ‘Supersession’ which focuses on the hot topics of the industry, the breakfast roundtables, the Innovation Zone, and, of course, the networking and camaraderie that mark this event – our venue lends itself quite nicely to that”.
