Marquis Broadcast is organising two broadcast forums in Paris and London next month, supported by Apple, Dalet and Ikegami, to study the challenges and advantages of disk-based field capture in a file-based environment and how to pass metadata through the product chain to produce an efficient workflow, writes Fergal Ringrose.

At the series of two seminars, to be held in Paris on Tuesday March 18 and London on Thursday March 20, the ability to buy best of breed products and place them in a seamless workflow with metadata being maintained and enhanced throughout will be explored. The need to ensure files placed in archives, and appropriately indexed in order that they are not lost forever and that metadata is always connected and correct is the key to effective re-purposing. The half day seminars will leave attendees with the knowledge of how to integrate tools to convert new production systems to operational success and an understanding of the issues surrounding the implementation of broadcast technologies and efficient workflow practices.
