BBC Cymru Wales to make all TV commissions meet albert targets

From this month, all new commissions will be required to complete the albert Sustainable Production Certification

BBC Cymru Wales is the latest broadcaster to set sustainability targets on all TV productions.

From this month, it will require all new commissions to complete the albert Sustainable Production Certification, in a bid to reduce the environmental impact of its productions.

Recent productions such as the 2021 – Welsh Sports Review of the Year, Scrum V, Clwb Rygbi and Match of the Day Wales have all been albert certified with the upcoming under-20, men’s and women’s Six Nations matches awaiting final Albert certification.

Sian Gwynedd, head of people, culture and partnerships at BBC Wales said: “The albert certification ensures that those working on all our programmes are actively thinking about sustainability and minimising the environmental impact at every stage of the production. It is a key part of delivering our net zero ambitions.”

BAFTA’s albert Consortium and Directorate, launched in 2011, aims to achieve environmental sustainability by requiring productions to make responsible decisions that will manage any negative impact on the environment.
