Advent for Europe’s top SNG operator

Advent Communications has won a significant order to supply four 1.8m Newswift antennas to Europe's largest SNG operator, SISLink, for deployment on three new HD vehicles.

Advent Communications has won a significant order to supply four 1.8m Newswift antennas to Europe’s largest SNG operator, SISLink, for deployment on three new HD vehicles.

Two of the Newswifts will be integrated on to one of SISlink’s new highly specified HD vehicles, which will then be leased to a leading national broadcaster for coverage of high profile sporting events from 2007 onwards. The additional NewSwifts will each be installed onto two HD vehicles designed and built by SISLink predominantly for major sports and broadcasting events.

The 1.8m Newswift, which is Advent’s newest vehicle-mounted antenna for news contribution, was launched at NAB 2006. SISLink is buying Advent’s largest model, the 1.8 metre antenna for Ku band, which will be supplied with Advent’s GPS based auto satellite acquisition package.

“This is a very significant order for Advent,” said Stephen Rudd, managing director of Advent Communications. “SISLink is the leading SNG operator in Europe, possibly in the World. The Newswift antenna has the latest motorisation and RF packages and is already selling in good volumes to European broadcasters.”

Lee Williams, engineering manager for SISLink, said: “SISLink has used Advent Newswift 1.5 metre antennas in the past which have proved very reliable and have met our demands for SNG work. After evaluating 1.8m antenna systems we believe that the Newswift best meets our requirements for these contract trucks and we look forward to building a productive relationship with Advent Communications.”
