Comprimato adds JPEG-XS to transcoding platform

The software can also be used for JPEG2000 contribution circuits, as well as NDI

Encoding and transcoding company Comprimato has updated its Live Transcoder software to include support for JPEG-XS.

The software can also be used for JPEG2000 contribution circuits, as well as NDI.

The platform uses the processing power of standard GPUs, enabling it to deliver encoding and transcoding appliances on premises or in the cloud. This COTS approach means that the software can be implemented in conjunction with other vendors’ software, said the company.

“As JPEG-XS has reached maturity in the VSF TR-07 transport stream, so there is growing interest in this lightweight, low latency codec, and we have moved to add it to the Live Transcoder environment,” said Jiri Matela, CEO of Comprimato.

“Our open architecture also allows us to collaborate with other vendors, including AJA Video Systems and InSync. Broadcasters and production companies working in live events and remote production demand the highest quality, including ultra HD, with as low latency as possible. Working with partners like these we can provide a single-touch solution that delivers crystal clear image quality at the optimum bitrate: a very attractive offering for users.”
