Sky moves further away from satellite with launch of Sky Stream

All content on Sky Stream will be available in HD as standard, with UHD also available

Sky is bringing a new plug and play device to the UK market as it moves further away from the traditional satellite dish.

Sky Stream, which can be plugged into any TV, enables users to watch content over Wi-Fi, without the need for a dish or installation.

The device includes the Sky Glass user interface, and will be available to buy in the UK from 18th October.

Sky said that all content on Sky Stream will be available in HD as standard, with UHD also available. It added that the device can also offer viewers content in HDR if they have a HDR-ready TV, and Dolby Atmos if they have a compatible soundbar.

Stephen van Rooyen, executive vice president and CEO, UK & Europe, said:“Sky’s always reinvented the TV experience and offered the best content – but it’s not always been accessible to everyone. There couldn’t be a better time to launch our latest innovation using the Sky Glass Platform – whether you want to stream House of the Dragon, Gangs of London or Stranger Things, Sky Stream has it all. It’s the most affordable and easiest way to get Sky TV and Netflix together, offering consumers the value they are seeking right now.”
