LiveU has revealed details of its part in enabling coverage of the UK General Election.

According to the company, 180 broadcasters and news agencies from 40 countries deployed solutions which leveraged LiveU’s IP-Video EcoSystem to enable round-the-clock coverage as results were declared.
More than 180 users deployed almost 900 LiveU field encoders (including the multi-cam LU800 and compact LU300S) over the 48 hour election period, complemented by the LU-Smart smartphone app, added LiveU.
LiveU’s cloud-native IP-video distribution platform, LiveU Matrix enabled pooled political content, allowing broadcasters to share key content in real time and reduce production costs. More than 5,000 hours were recorded, encompassing around 18,000 live sessions and over 10.5 TB of live transmissions.
The company’s LiveU Studio solution enabled streamlined, cloud-based workflows, expanding the reach of coverage across more than 400 distribution channels, it said.
Matt Stringer, LiveU’s sales director, said, “Our entire EcoSystem was in use, from field units to cloud services, ensuring that every aspect of the election was captured and broadcast in real-time both on linear and digital platforms. LiveU was used to capture all the key moments, including important election count locations and leader speeches. Our support teams had our customers’ backs, knowing that we had local support and 24/7 provided reassurances to our customers in the field.”
