Production art and science

Muriel De Lathouwer, EVS MD and CEO, likened the company’s product line to the left and right side of the brain, with the ‘connected live’ range of products focused on technical elements of the live IP infrastructure and workflow, while the ‘creative live’ side features toolsets for better, faster storytelling.

At IBC2017, the company has launched some significant news from each side of its brain.

New from the creative side is X-One, an all-in-one toolset for live productions requiring six cameras or less. The new system is built with EVS’ software-defined technology foundation and puts all of the capabilities of a control room in the hands of a single production operator at a touchscreen.

The system natively supports AIMS-compliant uncompressed IP ST 2110 feeds and further assists production operators with functions that can be deployed through a number of apps and plug-ins.

At the infrastructure level, EVS has launched a new way for facilities operating within an IP fabric to orchestrate live IP flows called S.CORE Master. The new system gives engineers better visibility of all end points within an IP-connected network and acts as its central orchestrator, guaranteeing the delivery of bandwidth-demanding media throughout the infrastructure.

The system uses SDN control methods to manage latency-sensitive live media and allows engineers to communicate with entire IP infrastructures at once.
