Two new transportable eight-bay RAID storage solutions have been announced at BVE 2016

Two new transportable eight-bay RAID storage solutions have been announced at BVE 2016. The G-Speed Shuttle XL is an eight-bay Thunderbolt 2 RAID solution providing up to 64TB of storage.

It features eight enterprise-class hard drives and can be configured in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 and 5. It features transfer rates up to 1,350Mbps, so is capable of supporting 4K workflows. The G-SPEED Shuttle XL is priced at £2,449 for 24TB, £3,149 for 32TB, £4,199 for 48TB and £5,599 for 64TB, and comes with a three-year limited warranty.

The G-Speed Shuttle XL with ev Series Bay Adapters is an eight-bay, transportable, hardware RAID, Thunderbolt 2 solution offering content creators up to 48TB.

Designed to support multi-stream 4K workflows and beyond, this solution can be configured in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 and features transfer rates up to 1,200MBps. It also comes with six enterprise-class hard drives and a three-year limited warranty.

Two of the eight-bays in this model feature the company’s ev Series Bay Adapters, which are compatible with any of the portable G-Drive ev external drives, including the G-Drive ev RaW, G-Drive ev 220, G-DriveE ev RaW SSD and ev Series Reader RED MINI-MAG Edition.

Available now, the G-Speed Shuttle XL with ev Series Bay Adapters is £2,299 for 18TB, £2,449 for 24TB, £3,499 for 36TB and £4,199 for 48TB.

Portability is a key theme, with the products being designed with an integrated handle to easily move the enclosure, while the unit is small enough to fit in an overhead locker on an aircraft.

Greg Crosby, worldwide senior product line manager, G-Technology said: “You can use the G-Speed Shuttles on location and then come back to your studio or office environment and go straight to the edit. The unit weighs around 10kg and the can fit into a standard protective case. It operates not only vertically, but horizontally too, so you can place a laptop on top of it and connect to the storage, like a mini DIT station.”
