Vimeo has moved to acquire digital distribution platform VHX.
Founded in 2011, the platform aids artists and distributors in selling video content and connecting with their audiences.
It allows artists to sell content directly from their own website, providing design, social media integration, search engine optimisation and analytics tools.
“Online video is expanding from a few, mainstream subscription services into a flourishing world of interest-based streaming channels, much like the evolution from broadcast to cable television,” said Kerry Trainor, Vimeo CEO.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Vimeo’s marketplace for consumers to access programming directly from creators worldwide.
Trainor added, “Vimeo is home to the world’s leading video creators and the viewers who love them, and we’re excited to add VHX’s team and technology to our streaming marketplace.
