The UK’s favourite Netflix shows and films

Netflix has released details of its most popular content per region of the UK.

The service looked at the shows viewed by UK subscribers from October 2016 to March 2017 to establish which region was most likely to view a particular genre.

It found that UK viewers enjoy watching US imports as well as some Netflix originals.

In Scotland, the most popular genre is comedy with the BBC’s local comedy Still Game and Orange is the New Black topping the chart. Comedy also dominates in Wales, with Gavin & Stacey proving particularly popular.

Drama dominates in Northern Ireland where viewers enjoy streaming Suits, Sons of Anarchy and The Good Wife.

Viewers in the North West prefer factual, watching How To Make a Murderer and RuPaul’s Drag Race; their North East counterparts prefer horror with American Horror Stories and Dexter most-viewed.

The Midlands is full of fantasy fanatics who enjoy Once Upon A Time and Teen Wolf.

Viewers in the South East are fans of romance, streaming Gilmore Girls and Skins; in the South West sci-fi is the most watched genre where viewers prefer Stranger Things and Doctor Who.

London’s subscribers enjoy drama with House of Cards and The Crown topping the streaming chart.
