Raymond Yeung chosen as SMPTE standards vice president

Yeung took on the role on January 1st, and will continue to serve throughout this year

SMPTE has announced the appointment of Raymond Yeung as standards vice president.

A member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and a life fellow of SMPTE, Yeung took over the role on January 1st and will serve for the remainder of this year. In a career encompassing digital visual effects and film mastering, Yeung has held positions in HDR imaging development at Dolby Laboratories and is currently head of content standards at Amazon MGM Studios Technology, where he focuses on advances in the media supply chain.

Commenting on the announcement, Yeung said “I am honoured to be serving as the new standards vice president. Leading this renowned standards development institution is a great responsibility, and one that I take very seriously. I plan to draw from my experience serving as a SMPTE standards director and chair of Technology Committee 35PM to drive innovation for the standards community.”

Richard Welsh, recently appointed as the society’s president, added, “I’m delighted to welcome Raymond to the board as vice president of standards. His commitment to SMPTE standards work and his high standing in the community are reflected in this leadership role. I look forward to working with Raymond as we continue to lead and evolve standards development in the rapidly changing media technology world.”
