Covell's remit includes overseeing iGene’s international business affairs, as well as responsibility for the development of the London team, opportunities in the UK and overseas, and special projects

Visual effects company iGene Media has appointed Phillip Covell to the role of chief commercial officer.

He will work alongside iGene’s CEO Dhanapal Padmanabhan and COO Mala Manyan and be based at the company’s Chiswick Park offices in London.

Covell’s remit includes overseeing iGene’s international business affairs, as well as responsibility for the development of the London team, opportunities in the UK and overseas, and special projects.

He has over 25 years of executive management and leadership experience, and was a co-founder of Support for Ukrainian Media Professionals, and joint recipient of the IBC 2022 Special Prize. Previously, he spearheaded global news startup AVTN NewsNet247, and began his career with facilities company VFG PLC.

Speaking about his new role, Covell said: “This is a great time in iGene’s story to be joining the team. I’m delighted to be able to bring my international and regional business experience and knowledge from across film and TV to the company, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to build on the great work and amazing talent that iGene already has to offer.

“iGene is well-known for its work on long-form projects, and I’m pleased to say that along with our new colour-grading suite in Chiswick Park, which will be available from September, we are opening our doors to short-form and commercials projects too. I look forward to discussing new and exciting colour grading and VFX projects with our production clients.”

Dhanapal Padmanabhan added: “Phillip possesses exceptional leadership abilities within the industry, demonstrating a remarkable capacity to envision and plan for the future. The iGene family welcomes Phillip with great enthusiasm.”
