My IBC: Pekko Larjo, Broadcast Solutions Nordic Oy

For Pekko Larjo, one of the highlights of IBC Show is finding something unexpected: a game-changing product, a new partnership, or a surprising use case that makes you rethink what’s possible

How long have you been going to IBC?

I’ve been attending IBC since 2001, and despite missing out on a few shows over the years due to other commitments, I’ve certainly been more than 20 times throughout my career.

What’s your typical IBC routine: what are you there to see/learn, who are you there to meet?

My IBC priorities have changed over time, but the core purpose remains the same: it’s all about reconnecting with customers, discovering emerging technologies and getting a feel for where the industry is headed next. I always kick off with meeting the key manufacturers in the TV and broadcast tech space—they’re a great way to set the tone for the week. Previously, I used to fill my schedule with back-to-back meetings, but I’ve since realised the importance of leaving some free time for those spontaneous conversations that always happen at the show. You will undoubtedly need some time available to catch up with industry colleagues and manufacturer reps that you don’t see often.

Why is IBC important to you in a professional capacity, and how does the show compare to others on the calendar?

For me, IBC is essential not just to stay current with technological advancements but to maintain and nurture relationships with key stakeholders across the industry. As the largest European tradeshow, IBC is the ideal place to connect with our customers and partners who attend from across the continent to discuss new and exciting projects and share insights together.

What are you most looking forward to at IBC2025?

I’m genuinely excited to hear about new projects, particularly those tapping into emerging business segments or solving challenges in unexpected ways. IBC always reveals something unexpected: a game-changing product, a new partnership forming, or a surprising use case that makes you rethink what’s possible. It’s that sense of discovery and potential that I look forward to most.

What’s your top tip for anyone attending IBC for the first time?

Wear comfortable shoes—seriously, you’ll thank yourself by day two. Never wear brand-new ones either; go for the trusty pair that won’t let you down after hours of walking. And don’t feel pressured to absorb everything at once. There’s so much going on that it’s easy to get overwhelmed. My advice: stay curious, explore what interests you most, and don’t stress if you don’t tick every box. Just knowing where the conversation is heading—and who’s leading it—is a win in itself.
