The CEO of Italian broadcaster Mediaset has said the company will continue to press ahead with its planned pan-European media company irrespective of whether it can strike a deal with Vivendi.
Mediaset announced in June 2019 it intended to set-up a new pan-European media company MediaForEurope that would operate out of the Netherlands.
Vivendi, Mediaset’s second biggest shareholder, immediately raised concerns about the plan, with the two companies locked in battle ever since.
“We want to go ahead with our European development project… If we clinch an accord with them, fine. Otherwise, we will go another way,” Pier Silvio Berlusconi said in an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.
