Mediaset has filed a plan to merge its Italian and Spanish units under a Dutch holding company, with the aim of creating pan-European TV company MediaForEurope.
The deadline for the merger is currently set for March 2020. However, the plan filed with the Dutch register of companies would give Mediaset another six months to complete its reorganisation.
The Berlusconi-controlled media company is embroiled in a six-month legal dispute with its shareholder Vivendi, which has warned that the merger could “harm the interests of minority shareholders.”
