IBC introduces ticket-free access to Amsterdam’s tram, bus and metro network

All IBC2025 badges will include an embedded QR code linked directly to the city's GVB system

Attendees at this year’s IBC2025 will be able to access Amsterdam’s public transport network with just a scan of their show badge.

Developed by IBC with RAI Amsterdam, Amsterdam public transport operator GVB, and smart credentialling provider CredsNow, all IBC2025 badges will include an embedded QR code linked directly to the GVB system.

Show attendees have previously been able to collect a free ticket to use the city’s transport, but the addition of the QR code both cuts down on the need for the paper ticket and enables free transport, making travelling around the city more sustainable.

“This is more than a convenience,” said Tamsin Christofides, operations director, IBC. “This reflects our commitment to sustainability, user-centric innovation, and our ongoing efforts to ensure that Amsterdam continues to be a welcoming and accessible destination for IBC2025”.

IBC2025 takes place from 12–15 September at the RAI Amsterdam. Attendees will be able to use their badge to enter the venue and board any GVB-operated service throughout the city, reducing reliance on cars and streamlining travel across the event.

Registration for IBC2025 is now open. More details are available here.
