The systems integration division of Gearhouse Broadcast has selected Module-R bespoke furniture from Custom Consoles for installation in two new HD control galleries at the Mediahouse division of IMG Worldwide.
The new facilities – which double the number of HD-capable studios at Mediahouse – have been equipped in order to deliver round-the-clock coverage of major league football to UK broadcasters.
A mix-and-matchable furniture system, Custom Consoles’ Module-R products allow control room desks to be produced from a selection of pods, base sections, 19-inch rack housings, worktops, end-panel modules and legs. Co-ordinated desk pods are available as single-bay sections with up to 10 rack-unit chassis capacity. Cabinets are constructed from high quality veneered MDF, while other features include continuous brush-strip cable access to front workshops, ventilated front access panels and hardwood worktop edging.
Kevin Moorhouse, chief operating officer at Gearhouse Broadcast, commented: “Custom Consoles’ Module-R product series gives us the flexibility to design and deliver a matching system of high quality desks, monitor walls and storage bays without the severe cost overhead normally incurred when installing bespoke furniture.
“The new installation at Mediahouse consists of four-operator and five-operator master control desks plus an 18-screen Media Wall; a three-operator desk including lighting control and 12-screen Media Wall; plus a single-operator sound control desk with twin desktop rack bays. Equipment housed in the desks includes a 3D-capable Sony MVS-8000 vision switcher, Yamaha DM2000 audio mixer, Miranda routers, Vutrix monitor splitters and Axon glue.”
