The IABM (International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers) Training Academy has launched its first online course. ‘Introduction to Broadcast Technology’ covers key elements of the academy’s classroom course entitled ‘Broadcast and Media Technology — Understanding Your Industry’. “This introductory online offering from the IABM Training Academy speaks directly to our goal of increasing the industry’s knowledge and skills base,” said IABM Director General Peter White (pictured). “Designed for broadcast staff, their technology suppliers, post production facilities, and related businesses that require an appreciation of technology, this class will familiarise students with broadcast and media technology and associated terminology, as well as the role that technology plays in the business in which they operate.” In providing an overview of broadcast and media technology, rather than an in-depth study, the online course will cover subjects including the distribution chain for broadcast and media production; distribution, delivery, and business fundamentals; products, systems, and services; who’s who in the supply chain; traditional media and new media; and emerging technologies and markets. The new online course is delivered in short user-friendly modules and can be carried out at any time and in any place to suit personal and occupational schedules. ‘Introduction to Broadcast Technology’ is a self-paced course where students can access the material and develop their understanding at a flow that suits their learning style. www.iabm.academy.org
